Pooja Garg overcame not one, but two life-altering challenges: a spinal injury and cancer.
While recovering from a spinal injury itself is a daunting task, being diagnosed with cancer didn’t deter her — she took it head-on and emerged victorious with unwavering grit.
On World Cancer Day, she raised the Indian tricolour at Nathu La Pass, one of India’s most extreme borders in Sikkim — sending a powerful message of strength, hope, and awareness for cancer fighters everywhere:
“I didn’t stop because I wasn’t broken.”

Officially Recognised by London Book of World Records — A Global First
Pooja Garg’s remarkable achievement has been officially recognised by the London Book of World Records, naming her the first para woman in the world to complete such an extreme expedition — while battling cancer.
The official committee hailed her mission as a "symbol of human willpower and resilience," and her name now stands proudly among global record-holders. A representative of the London Book of World Records was present to witness and formally endorse this historic milestone.
This recognition isn’t just a feather in India’s cap — it is a new beacon of hope for cancer survivors and differently-abled individuals around the world.
Honoured at a Grand Ceremony in Delhi — A Nation Pays Tribute
At a special event held in New Delhi, Pooja Garg was honoured in the presence of dignitaries and national leaders.
Delhi Chief Minister Mrs. Rekha Gupta, the chief guest, presented her with a certificate, calling her a "symbol of true strength."
Representatives from the Sports Authority of India (SAI) also honoured her with heartfelt words and recognition.
